Platform Pedals Dangerous on Fixed Gear
Please be advised: Recent empirical research indicates that the use of plaform pedals on fixed gear bicycles may be dangerous when afforementioned conveyance (bicycle) encounters a substantial disturbance in the roadway surface (a.k.a. pothole). It is possible for a rider’s heel to be forced against the chainstay by up-stroke pressure from the pedal, abrading the outer membrane of the heel and causing said membrane to fail. This results in intense sensations and substantial fluid leakage.
Further research is required to determine the likelihood of similar occurrences while employing pedals equiped with toe clips. It is possible that a freewheel is required for urban cycling.
