Just in case I haven’t linked this yet (because I can;t be bothered right now to actually check), I give you Janis Ian on the internet problem with regard to the music industry. We likes her. Yess, precious, we likes the nice lady…
It’s a few days old, I realize, but I’m finally getting around to reading it. And it makes me sick. I’m talking about Condoleezza Rice’s, “Why We Know Iraq Is Lying” in last thursday’s New York Times. (You’ll need to register if you haven’t already.)

Discovered via gmtPlus9: the stunning work of Fred E. Miller. Working on the Crow Reservation for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the early 20th century, Mr. Miller made some remarkably sensitive photographs of the Crow Indians via the persnickety albumen photographic process.
The Miller Collection is managed by the Chicago Albumen Works.
No matter where I go, nowhere is the Pad Thai as good as at the tiny Bangkok Wok in Harrisburg, PA. And the Lemongrass soup? To die (or kill) for. I love everything about this place. I love all 9 tables wedged into what must be only 200 square feet. I love the chilly draft and the steamed-up windows in the winter. I love the that you can’t smoke in there. I love that the capital lunch crowd has almost always run back to their desks by one, leaving me alone for a nice, quiet meal. I love the little variations in the food from visit to visit — proof that my grub is custom built every time — and the sound of the wok sizzling almost immediately after I order.
