My dad just updated his website with two very nice, new images. [1,2] He’s been preparing madly for his first solo show (I am so jealous) at a gallery in Tarrytown, NY. The show opens November 23rd with a reception from 2 to 5pm. I’ve been peeping the accumulating pieces as he slogs through the framing process and the stuff looks good—especially the big ones. I’m looking forward to November.
Electrostatic. These guys (and girl) are exactly where I’d like to take my next musical foray. Sweet beats, smooth vocals, sick programming.
I hate them.

I’m wasted.
Today was the day for me to plow through the big-ass iCom list o’ production companies. Skipped the ones that weren’t local. That left me with 33. I’m about half-way through. I almost quit after #2. Receptionist from Mumble Mumble Communications was less than cordial. Grr. I’ll eat her brain.
Here’s the breakdown:
“Sure we use freelancers. Send a reel.”: 7
“We have in-house folks, but send a reel anyway. We’ll keep it on file.”: 4
“Bugger off, you non-affiliated indie scum!”: 1
“Nobody’s home. Leave a message.”: 7
Now I get to write a mess of cover letters, label some tapes, assemble packages and then pick it up on Monday with the “O”s. Only 5 more pages to go…
Some miscellaneous tidbits from my day:
Discovered a keen band thanks to Batty. The Mercy Cage. Good music. I’ll figure out whether or not I actually dig them once I have mögen/nicht mögen differential capability again. But for now I’ll be satisfied by the fact that they absolutely do not suck.
Found an accountant who was nice and didn’t make me feel like an idiot for letting my 2001 tax extension run out. And he’s affordable. Well, as accountants go. I think I love him. His wife is nice, too.
Don’t forget to visit Gromph.
And didn’t I just go and do it…
Just submitted a photo and a phrase to Born Magazine’s nifty collaborative ‘net art project, “You and We.” Interesting project. How can something so simple actually be interesting? Must study that while I watch it for hours until my contributions come around because, yes… I’m just that obsessive sometimes.
Care to help me watch? Keep your eyes peeled for these:

“Why does my dishsoap smell like toxic waste?”
[Update: 11:47pm] It’s not working. I think I broke it. Oopsie?
[Update: 09am 11.24.2002] Guess I didn’t break it. Expect stills soon. Told you I was obsessive.
[Update: 05pm 11.24.2002] Still waiting to see the photo…

It’s been pinging all over ‘blogland, since yesterday, but I’ll post a link here just because I think it’s amazing: Papercut.
I’ve had a hard time digging up a reasonable size look at this thing. Don’t miss the single letter posted on the AIGA site. There’s another peek at it here.
Big thanks to Todd Domney ’cause I discovered Papercut via his What Do I Know.
My brain’s on overdrive thinking how I could design/animate with this face. More! I must know more about this!
